Tarureka Estate is a rustic barn style wedding venue located in Featherston just 50 minutes drive from Wellington City. Tarureka Estate is nestled amongst 4 acres of manicured gardens boasting on site accommodation, multiple ceremony locations, heritage buildings with historic interiors, and copious outdoor space for mingling. Tarureka Estate has everything you need to make your wedding a wonderful guest experience. So we thought we would review Tarureka Estate so you can see what having your wedding at Tarureka Estate really looks like.

Tarureka Estate has gorgeous accommodation options nearby
Tarureka Estate is located in Featherston so there are countless beautiful accommodation options a stone’s throw away. One of our favourites is Little Branches Bed and Breakfast (pictured below), which has gorgeous gardens, white interiors, and beautiful natural light.
There is plenty of accommodation options in Greytown and Martinborough which are only 10 minutes away, and Tarureka Estate can help arrange for buses to pick up and drop off your guests on your wedding day.

Tarureka Estate’s on site accommodation is an 1870’s country homestead that can accommodate up to 18 people. With a wrap around veranda, seven double bedrooms, extensive lounge space, and a fully stocked kitchen and outdoor BBQ, there is plenty of room for everyone.
The homestead can be booked for the whole weekend so you can host your day-after BBQ there too if you like.
Tarureka Estate has multiple garden ceremony locations for you to choose from
Tarureka Estate’s garden ceremony spots are lined with trees, protected from the wind, and have plenty of space for guests to sit or stand. Their tree lined garden ceremony spots feel intimate yet spacious making it perfect for weddings big and small.

There is enough space at Tarureka Estate for you imagination to go wild. Lawn games, open air bar, and outdoor festoon lights, are just some of the possibilities for your wedding at Tarureka Estate. There are picnic tables and seating for those of you wanting to rest your feet, and shade can be found under the trees or on the veranda. Whatever you have in mind for your wedding, you and your guests can wine and dine the day away in the beautiful gardens and courtyards at Tarureka Estate.

Tarureka Estate’s barn wedding venue was voted as one of the top 10 barn wedding venues in the world
Tarureka Estate’s reception space is a lovingly renovated historic barn with entirely timber interiors, a beautiful cathedral ceiling, and three large chandelairs hanging from the ceiling. Tarureka Estate’s loft reception space has the capacity for 120 people seated and the in-house catering is provided by Cresendo Cuisine.
While Tarureka Estate’s bar is fully equipped, you can choose to put your own keg beer on tap, or you can even BYOB for your wedding if you want.
Tarureka Estate has a seperate bar and dance floor downstairs
This is wonderful because it means you don’t have to disrupt the flow of your wedding reception to make space for the dancefloor. Instead your guests can flow between the bar, dance floor, and dining space as they choose. So some guests can dance the night away downstairs, while others can have quiet conversations long in to the night upstairs.
There is also plenty of space for a live band in the downstairs area of the barn so you can hire a band or DJ for your wedding if you like.
