Sudbury Wedding Venue Review
Sudbury is a luxury wedding venue located on a 50 acre horse farm in Peka Peka, New Zealand. Sudbury is one of our favourite wedding venues in the Wellington region and we are itching to show you why. We want to show you Sudbury’s beautiful surroundings; their outdoor ceremony spot with a view; the versatile spaces they have available for your guests to mingle and play games in; the outdoor dance floors; the rustic reception space; and the stunning photoshoot spot just a stones throw away from the venue. So if you want an inside look at what weddings at Sudbury are like you are in the right place.

Sudbury’s outdoor ceremony spot with a view
Sudbury’s garden ceremony spot has trees surrounding a pergola, nature as far as you can see, and white vintage chairs for your guests. So it’s fair to say Sudbury’s outdoor ceremony spot is beautiful. The ceremony location is easy for all guests to access and is in close proximity to the rest of the venue so your guests can easily walk between the ceremony spot and the rest of the the venue.
The weather at Sudbury is often warmer and less windy than in Wellington city so the chances are good that you’ll be able to have your ceremony outside. However, if the weather doesn’t cooperate Sudbury also has a wonderful wet weather ceremony option available inside.

Sudbury’s versatile mingling spaces give the day a seamless flow from one part of the day to the next
One amazing thing about Sudbury as a wedding venue is the numerous and versatile spaces available for you and your guests to use throughout the course of your day. Your whole wedding takes place on the one property, yet the diversity in areas used for each part of the day gives a wonderful sense of variety for your guests without anyone actually having to travel anywhere.
The various spaces Sudbury has available for guests to mingle and play games in mean that Sudbury weddings are often relaxed weddings with a laid back atmosphere. All in all Sudbury’s set-up and layout really make for a wonderful guest experience.

Sudbury has amazing spots for photos right on the venues’ doorstep
Being a horse farm the Sudbury property has some lovely spots on site for the photoshoot. Alternatively, 3 minutes down the road from Sudbury is Waikanae Beach which is an incredible spot for the photoshoot. So if you don’t want to leave your guests for long on your wedding day, you don’t have to!
Sudbury has TWO outdoor dancing areas!
Sudbury has 2 outdoor dancing areas with festoon lights. One of the courtyards has an outdoor fireplace, and the other has a vintage caravan for the band or DJ to set up in. All of this comes with hiring the venue. It is one of the loveliest outdoor dance floors we have seen in a Wellington wedding venue. There’s nothing better than having an open air dance floor on a hot summers night.

There are countless beautiful places to stay near Sudbury, but our absolute favourite is Solemer House (pictured below). Not only is it an amazing place to stay and get ready, but it also doubles as a stunning photoshoot location. This can come in handy if it’s a super sunny or rainy day because the light inside Solemer House is always amazing.
